Sustainable Skiing in Style
Reduce your carbon ski-print as you enjoy organic indulgences at Wyoming’s new eco-luxe hotel.
Jackson Hole’s first three weeks of the season may have dumped a colossal 13 feet of snow, but climate change still signals less powder on the pistes — which makes Wyoming’s latest eco-luxe venture all the more welcome. Opening January 29, Hotel Terra Jackson Hole is among a crop of new upscale green-ski projects, and is set to become one of the five greenest hotels in the US. The LEED-certified retreat is part of the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort area, itself powered by 100 percent renewable energy. Yet the 72-room eco-boutique promises to up the sustainability in style. Two restaurants, a Chill Spa and a rooftop hot tub should replenish skied-out guests, while in-room indulgences include custom-designed Terra Beds and organic linens that are kind to the planet.
Skiers with a conscience have 2,500 acres of legendary inbounds terrain to play with, plus backcountry access to the Bridger Teton National Forest. Techies can content themselves with Bose surround-sound speakers, flatscreen TVs and touchscreen telephones. And non-skiers also take note: this is just the first in a new empire of green-luxe hotels planned by the Terra Resort Group.
